Also, I'm not sure the cooking time would be long enough to soften the onion.<BR/><BR/>If you want to make use the microwave, I would suggest cooking the rice on it's own in the microwave and cooking the rest of the ingredients on the stove (add the dates and tomatoes about two minutes before removing from heat).
